Pune/Pimpri Chinchwad, December 12, 2020: In the wake of Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) have postponed their earlier plan of reopening schools and have decided to keep schools closed till January 3, 2020.

PMC issued an order today which states, “Considering the outbreak of Coronavirus, it is not possible to start schools in the current situation, so all types of schools in the Pune Municipal Corporation area will be closed till January 3, 2021.”

Further orders will be issued regarding the commencement of schools given the Corona situation.

In its earlier order, the PMC had said that schools for classes for class 9th to 12th can resume ‘offline’ classes by strictly following all the COVID-19 safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the state government from December 13.

However, the situation of the deadly virus in the city has stopped PMC to re-open schools.

Following the footsteps of PMC, PCMC has also decided to shut schools till January 3. “Considering the number of cases in PCMC  we will start the schools from January 4, we will also release SOP for the same before January 3”, Shravan Hardikar, PCMC Commissioner told Punekarnews. in.
