Pune, 3rd July 2026: Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram on Friday chaired a review meeting to assess the implementation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) programme for electoral rolls, directing officials to ensure accurate registration of all eligible voters and complete the exercise within the stipulated timeline.

The meeting was attended by Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Special) Omprakash Divte, heads of departments, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Commissioners, and other concerned officials and staff.

During the meeting, officials were instructed to thoroughly verify the eligibility of every voter included in the draft electoral roll and maintain accurate records of deleted entries. The Commissioner emphasised that the revision exercise should result in an updated, error-free, and reliable electoral roll.

Special focus was placed on the house-to-house distribution and collection of enumeration forms under the Special Intensive Revision programme. Officials were directed to distribute forms only to citizens who are physically present at their residences and to ensure that at least 10 percent of the forms are distributed each day to meet the prescribed schedule.

Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Registration Officers (AROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were instructed to conduct daily reviews of the progress to ensure timely completion of the exercise. AROs were asked to undertake field inspections, AEROs to coordinate the implementation process, and EROs to continuously monitor the overall progress. They were also directed to regularly review the work of BLOs and provide necessary guidance.

To strengthen the field-level exercise, the administration decided to appoint three assistants for every BLO. Officials were also encouraged to seek support from women’s self-help groups, Anganwadi workers, and other local community volunteers wherever required.

The meeting also reviewed areas where progress has been slower than expected, with specific instructions issued to the concerned officials to improve the pace of work. The authorities also addressed operational difficulties faced by officers, employees, and teachers engaged in the revision exercise and appealed to all stakeholders to work in a coordinated, systematic, and responsible manner.

Speaking at the meeting, Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram said, “The electoral roll is the foundation of the democratic process. Ensuring that every eligible citizen is accurately registered while removing ineligible entries is a collective responsibility of all concerned agencies. All officers and employees should work in coordination to complete the Special Intensive Revision programme in a planned, transparent, and time-bound manner.”

District Collector Jitendra Dudi said, “The successful implementation of the Special Intensive Revision campaign depends on the active participation of every field officer. Accurate registration of eligible voters through house-to-house visits, regular field inspections, daily reviews, and strict adherence to timelines should be given the highest priority to ensure quality execution of the exercise.”
