Speaker Nancy Pelosi Arrives In Taiwan Amid Threats, 13 American Planes Providing Security

Taiwan, 2nd August 2022: Nancy Pelosi, US House of Representatives Speaker, reached Taiwanese soil around 8.15 pm as the two superpowers came face to face regarding Taiwan. Following multiple threats and demonstrations from China, Pelosi has been given tight security.

 

China has threatened America with dire consequences after the latter showed considerable interest in Taiwan. Meanwhile, according to Japanese media reports, at least 13 US Air Force aircraft had departed from military bases in Japan. These aircraft aim to act as security to US Senator Nancy Pelosi during her visit to Taiwan. The report also claimed that eight American fighter jets and five tankers had left Japan. These planes are Pelosi’s escort to Taipei. Security has also been tightened at the hotel where she will be residing during her visit.

 

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said, “The United States must abandon any attempt to play the Taiwan card and respect China’s sovereignty.” Demonstrations are also taking place against America in many areas of China. China has threatened America with dire consequences. On the other hand, America has also replied claiming Pelosi’s visit as their decision. Notably, Taiwan was initially not included in Pelosi’s proposed Asia tour; the decision was made amid the tour.
