Summer Rush 2026: Special Trains from Mumbai via Pune to Chennai and Bengaluru Announced
Pune, 14th April 2026: To manage increased passenger demand during the summer season, Central Railway has introduced additional special train services connecting Mumbai and Pune with Chennai and Bengaluru.
Mumbai–Chennai Weekly Specials via Pune
Central Railway will operate weekly special trains between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Chennai, passing through Pune and several major stations en route.
Train number 01015 will depart from CSMT at 00:20 hrs every Sunday from April 19 to June 7, 2026, reaching Chennai at 23:30 hrs the same day. In the return direction, train number 01016 will leave Chennai at 04:00 hrs every Monday from April 20 to June 8, 2026, arriving at CSMT at 04:15 hrs the following day.
The train will halt at key stations including Pune, Lonavala, Solapur, Kalaburagi, Guntakal, Renigunta and Arakkonam, among others.
The rake composition includes one AC 2-tier coach, six AC 3-tier coaches, nine sleeper class coaches, four general second class coaches, and two guard-cum-brake vans.
Mumbai–Bengaluru Weekly Specials via Pune
Weekly special services have also been announced between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Bengaluru, catering to passengers travelling between Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Train number 01013 will depart from LTT at 11:50 hrs every Sunday from April 19 to July 12, 2026, reaching Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal at 11:45 hrs the next day. The return service, train number 01014, will leave Bengaluru at 13:50 hrs every Monday from April 20 to July 13, 2026, arriving at LTT at 13:30 hrs the following day.
En route halts include Thane, Kalyan, Lonavala, Pune, Satara, Sangli, Miraj, Belagavi, Hubballi, Davangere and Tumakuru.
The train will have a similar composition of one AC 2-tier coach, six AC 3-tier coaches, nine sleeper class coaches, four general second class coaches, and two guard-cum-brake vans.
Booking Information
Bookings for these special services will open on April 15, 2026, through computerized reservation centres and the IRCTC website. Unreserved tickets can be booked via the UTS system or mobile applications.
