Pune: Sunil Handa Elected As President of Poona Club, Gaurav Gadhoke As Vice President
Pune, 4th October 2022: National badminton player of yesteryears Sunil Handa has been elected President of the Poona Club Ltd at its General Body Meeting held last week.
The AGM also elected vice-president and four committee members, who will assist Handa in the running of one of the prestigious clubs of Pune, which boasts of a cricket ground and several other sports infrastructures at its premises, including tennis, squash and cue sports. The Club also has an 18-hole championship golf course, which has had hosted many a memorable tournament.
Handa has been a regular face at the Club and has been on the managing committee for years together Handa, who is into the business of Solar generation and biogas, has done commendable work over the years in improving the facilities at the Club, which stood in good stead as the votes were polled by the members. Handa received 1604 votes.
There were three candidates for the post of Vice President – Gaurav Gadhoke, Manish Dilip Mehta and Shashank Halbe. Gadhoke won by 133 votes getting 1055 votes in total and was declared the Vice President of The Poona Club Limited. Gadhoke is an avid golfer and businessman operating in the road construction sector in the country.
