Pune, February 5, 2021: Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has decided to start the Swargate-Katraj BRT service from today as the bus stops and work on the Swargate-Katraj route on Satara Road have been completed. The service will be resumed at full capacity and private vehicles will not be allowed on the BRT route, PMPML said in a letter to police.

There are a total of 10 bus stops on the Katraj-Swargate BRT route. Information boards have been put up at each stop. Aluminium metal doors have also been installed for the safety of passengers. In the next few days, an automated gateway and an ITMS system will be launched to help passengers know bus numbers, routes and locations.

CCTV cameras will be installed at bus stops for security. But that work is still incomplete. Automatic gates have not been installed at the stops within a distance of 6 km. The electrical system at the stop is also not operational. It is unlikely that these works will be completed in a short period. Currently, the BRT route is open to all vehicles. This is likely to lead to traffic congestion. Metro work has also increased the difficulty on the BRT route.

Essential works have been completed in terms of providing services to the passengers, PMPML Chairman and Managing Director Dr Rajendra Jagtap clarified.
