Swayam Strikers, JW Superkings Register Second Straight Wins in Lions Veterans Cup 2025
Pune, 13th December 2025: Swayam Strikers and JW Superkings teams registered their second consecutive victory by defeating their respective opponents in the ‘Lions Veterans Cup’ 2025 Twenty20 cricket tournament, organized by Lions Club District 3234D2 Pune Rahatni in memory of late L. Sagar Dhomse.
In the match played at the Four Star Cricket Ground in Hinjewadi, Swayam Strikers defeated Kate Warriors by 5 wickets, thanks to a brilliant knock of 62 runs by Samadhan Dandekar. Batting first, Kate Warriors set a target of 173 runs in 20 overs. Vijay K. scored 60 runs, while Sagar Puri (30 runs) and Sunil Rochela (30 runs) also contributed to the score. Swayam Strikers chased down the target in 20 overs, losing 5 wickets. Samadhan Dandekar scored 62 runs off 48 balls with 9 fours, while Jaydeep Sonawane scored 60 runs off 35 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. The duo laid the foundation for the team’s victory with a 110-run opening partnership off 67 balls. Mahendra Jagtap added 30 runs.
Thanks to an all-round performance by Santoshkumar Sangale, JW Superkings narrowly defeated Tilekar Blasters by five runs. Batting first, JW Superkings posted 144 runs on the scoreboard. Shekhar Dalmia (43 runs) and Santoshkumar Sangale (33 runs) contributed to the team’s innings. While chasing this target, Tilekar Blasters’ innings was restricted to 139 runs. Rahul Kamthe scored 55 runs off 55 balls with 6 fours. Vishal Kamthe (23 runs) and Raghunath Shingade (24 runs) also contributed runs. However, wickets fell at regular intervals, and the team fell short of victory by five runs. Santoshkumar Sangale bowled brilliantly, taking two wickets for 23 runs.
