Tata Curvv.ev Sets New Record for Fastest Kashmir to Kanyakumari EV Drive

Kanyakumari, 28th February 2025: Tata.ev has achieved a significant milestone in India’s electric vehicle (EV) sector by completing the fastest all-electric drive from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in just 76 hours and 35 minutes. The journey, covering approximately 3,800 km, was led by the Curvv.ev, setting 20 national records in the process. This feat surpassed the previous record by over 19 hours, which was held by the Nexon EV MAX.
Efficient Charging and Seamless Travel
During the endurance drive, the Curvv.ev required only 16 charging stops, significantly reducing overall charging time from 28 hours to just 17 hours. This highlights advancements in battery technology and the growing availability of high-speed charging infrastructure along Indian highways.
The journey commenced at 4:00 AM on February 25, 2025, with a ceremonial flag-off in Srinagar by Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The vehicle then navigated diverse weather conditions, challenging terrains, and India’s expanding EV charging network before reaching its destination in Kanyakumari at 8:35 AM on February 28, 2025. Upon arrival, the team was welcomed by Kanyakumari MP Thiru Vijay Vasanth.
Pushing the Boundaries of EV Performance
Speaking about the achievement, Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., stated,
“This record-breaking drive was aimed at proving how effortless and reliable long-distance travel can be in an electric vehicle. The Curvv.ev, built on the advanced acti.ev platform and powered by a 55 kWh battery, provided a smooth, comfortable, and efficient journey. With public charging stations now exceeding 18,000 points, every district along our route had access to fast-charging options. This achievement underscores the growing maturity of EV technology and its supporting infrastructure. By surpassing our own previous record by 19 hours, we have reaffirmed that EVs are now just as capable as internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles for long-distance travel.”
India’s Expanding EV Charging Network
Since the last record-setting run, India’s EV charging ecosystem has grown significantly. In 2023, the most optimal route for an EV from Kashmir to Kanyakumari spanned 4,004 km, factoring in available charging points. However, in 2025, the improved charging infrastructure reduced the optimal distance to 3,823 km, minimizing detours for recharging.
Key improvements include:
227% increase in charging stations since 2023, with over 18,000 fast-charging points now operational.
85% of national highways have a fast charger every 50 km, reducing range anxiety for EV users.
Introduction of high-speed 60-120 kW chargers, ensuring faster charging times.
The iRA.ev app, which aggregates over 12,000 charging stations, offering optimized route planning, charger ratings, and real-time vehicle insights.
The TATA.ev Unified RFID card, allowing seamless charging access without requiring multiple service provider apps.
A Step Forward for India’s EV Future
The successful completion of this record-breaking drive reinforces Tata.ev’s leadership in India’s EV revolution. With the Curvv.ev demonstrating its capabilities on par with conventional fuel vehicles, Tata Motors is further encouraging the shift towards sustainable, zero-emission transportation.
The Curvv.ev, India’s first SUV coupe EV, is now available at Tata Motors dealerships and TATA.ev stores nationwide, with a starting price of ₹17.49 lakh.
