Pune, 19th August 2025: OpenAI has rolled out ChatGPT Go, a new low-cost subscription plan priced at ₹399 per month, offering Indian users expanded access to its latest artificial intelligence model GPT-5 along with enhanced usage limits.

Key Highlights of ChatGPT Go

10× higher limits on messages, image generations, and file uploads compared to the free plan.

Extended memory capacity, approximately double that of the free version.

Access to GPT-5, the company’s flagship model featuring advanced reasoning and multimodal capabilities.

Inclusion of advanced data tools, such as Python-based analysis and file handling.

Availability and Payment

ChatGPT Go is currently exclusive to India, with plans to expand to other markets in the future. Subscriptions are available on a monthly basis, with payments supported through UPI platforms such as Google Pay, Paytm, and PhonePe, as well as credit cards. Multi-month or annual billing options are not available at launch.

Positioning Among Other Tiers

OpenAI now offers three tiers for Indian users:

Free Tier – limited access, basic usage, and older models.

ChatGPT Go – priced at ₹399, offering GPT-5 and expanded limits.

ChatGPT Plus – priced at ₹1,999, providing the widest range of tools, legacy model access, and advanced features such as connectors and video generation tools.

Go sits between the free and premium offerings, providing broader access to AI features at a significantly lower cost than the Plus plan.

Product Features and Limitations

While Go subscribers gain access to GPT-5 with auto reasoning (“Thinking”), they do not receive legacy model support such as GPT-4o, nor do they gain entry to premium-exclusive tools like connectors or AI-powered video generation. The plan is billed monthly only, without discounts for long-term commitments.

Market Context

The introduction of ChatGPT Go highlights OpenAI’s focus on price-sensitive, high-growth regions, beginning with India. With nearly a billion internet users, the market provides fertile ground for mass adoption of AI services at affordable price points.
