TET Malpractice: Pune Police Seize Cash, Ornaments Worth Over Rs 2 Crore From Tukaram Supe’s Relatives; Maharashtra Government Suspends Him

Mumbai/Pune, 20th December 2021: The cyber crime police station of Pune City Police has seized Rs 1.59 crore and 44 different types of jewellery from the relatives and friends of arrested Maharashtra State Council of Examination Commissioner Tukaram Supe in connection with the teacher eligibility test (TET) 2020 exam scam.

In the first raid, police had seized Rs 88 lakh cash and some jewellery from Tupe’s house. After that, in the second raid, notes of two thousand, five hundred and one hundred rupees were found in his possession and a total of two crore rupees and some jewellery were found in five bags.

Tupe’s name cropped up in the investigation of the MHADA recruitment examination paper leak case. Police had summoned Tupe for questioning and then arrested him late Thursday night (December 16) and Abhishek Savarikar, an adviser in the education department. They are accused of taking money for qualifying undeserving candidates. A judicial magistrate court has remanded them to police custody till December 23.

Police officials said that during investigation it was found that Tupe had kept one of the two bags full of cash with his daughter and his son-in-law had given another bag of money to his friend. After that, they were summoned to the police station for questioning.

After getting information from them, the police team alongwith two witnesses, accused Tukaram Supe, his son-in-law and daughter went to Charholi near Alandi where they stayed and Rs 97,000 was recovered from there.

However, as the two bags were not received as per the information, Tupe’s daughter and son-in-law were interrogated. Based on his information, police searched the flat of his friend in Wagholi and found the two bags and a suitcase in the flat. They contained Rs 1.58 crore and jewellery boxes were.
