Tourists from Pune and Bengaluru Drown at Morjim Beach in Goa

Pune, 17th November 2023: On Thursday two tourists, one from Pune and the other from Bengaluru, lost their lives to drowning incidents in Morjim, Goa. The first victim, 47-year-old Faiz Ahmed from Pune, met his unfortunate end at Morjim beach around 8:30 am. According to police reports, Ahmed ventured into the sea, leading to the incident.

Inspector Sachin Lokre of the Pernem police station provided details, stating that the victim was accompanied by his wife, Fatima, and their two children, having arrived in Goa just three days prior. The family was staying at a resort in Morjim. The lifeguard on duty successfully retrieved Ahmed’s body, which was then transported to the Pernem Community Health Centre (CHC). Despite efforts, the doctor at the CHC declared him deceased.

In a separate incident at Morjim beach, 50-year-old Rajesh Sharma from Bengaluru drowned while swimming. Inspector Lokre disclosed that Sharma’s lifeless body was also recovered by a vigilant lifeguard and subsequently moved to CHC Pernem. The victim had been staying with a friend at Morjim.
