Pune, 11th August 2025: In view of heavy footfall at the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple on the occasion of Angarki Chaturthi, the Pune traffic police have announced changes to traffic movement in the central parts of the city on Thursday (12th).

Traffic on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road has been completely closed, with the police advising motorists heading towards Swargate via this route to use designated alternative roads. The decision comes after large crowds of devotees gathered for the festival, leading to congestion in the area.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Himmat Jadhav, urged commuters to cooperate with the diversions.

As per the advisory:
Vehicles travelling from Puram Chowk towards Shivajinagar via Bajirao Road should proceed through Tilak Road, Alka Cinema Hall, and Deccan Gymkhana to reach their destinations.
Vehicles heading to Swargate via Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road are advised to take the route via SG Barve Chowk (Modern Café), Junglee Maharaj Road, Jhansi Rani Chowk, Khandujibaba Chowk, and Tilak Road.

Additionally, the road from Appa Balwant Chowk to Hutatma Chowk (Budhwar Chowk) has been closed for traffic.

The traffic branch has appealed to citizens to plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the festive rush.
