Traffic Jam Alert: Authorities Urge Removal Of Handcarts and Flex Displays on Mumbai-Pune Highway

Lonavala, 30th June 2023: Ongoing road digging and metro construction along the old Mumbai-Pune highway have resulted in narrowed roads, leading to severe traffic congestion. To exacerbate the situation, an increasing number of handcarts and flex displays have been observed, contributing to the growing traffic jam.
Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Karthik Satyasai has issued a warning, urging the immediate removal of handcarts and road-side flexes and banners, with the threat of enforcement action.
SDPO Karthik Satyasai emphasized the urgency of the matter, stating, “Due to the current heavy rain, there is a significant traffic jam on the old Mumbai-Pune highway. To alleviate the congestion, I hereby direct all shopkeepers located along the road to relocate their flex boards, banners, and shop accessories inside their respective shops and off the road. These items are causing significant disruptions to the flow of traffic.”
“However, if the instructions are not followed, and the flex boards, banners, and shop goods are not removed, we will be compelled to take action in accordance with Section 102 of the Maharashtra Police Act. I appeal to all handcart drivers not to park their handcarts and belongings on the road. Failure to comply with these instructions will result in action,” added SDPO Karthik.
