Traffic Jams on Pune’s Sinhagad Road Blamed on Poor Infrastructure and Lack of Civic Sense
Reported by Gayatri Kelkar
Pune, 13th September 2025: Sinhagad Road, one of Pune’s busiest routes, continues to reel under severe traffic congestion every day. While potholes and uneven surfaces are frequently cited as the main culprits, poor civic sense among commuters is compounding the problem.
Illegal parking remains rampant despite clear ‘No Parking’ signs. Two-wheelers often encroach on footpaths, forcing pedestrians onto the road. Ongoing footpath construction, if completed swiftly, could ease the situation, but prolonged delays leave residents and commuters struggling for weeks.
Adding to the chaos, several motorists resort to wrong-side driving, leading to confusion and bottlenecks. The combined effect of these factors highlights that civic behavior is just as critical as road quality in addressing traffic woes.
Unless authorities step up enforcement and citizens adopt more responsible road practices, the journey toward smooth traffic on Sinhagad Road will remain slow and difficult.
