Triple Riding Crackdown in Pune: Rs 1.03 Crore Fine Recovered by Traffic Police in Five Days
Pune, 15th February 2026: The Pune Traffic Police have intensified action against triple riding and other traffic violations across the city, penalising 5,380 two-wheeler riders over the past five days. During the special enforcement drive conducted between February 10 and 14, authorities collected fines amounting to ₹1.03 crore.
The crackdown focused primarily on riders travelling triple-seat on motorcycles, a violation that significantly increases the risk of road accidents. Police teams were deployed at major intersections, traffic congestion points, signal junctions and accident-prone stretches as part of the special inspection campaign.
Officials said the drive aimed not only to impose penalties but also to curb reckless behaviour that could lead to serious injuries or fatalities. The traffic department appealed to citizens to strictly follow road safety norms, warning that violations would invite stringent action.
In a related development in Solapur, cases have been registered against 12,268 errant motorists for various traffic offences. Authorities have issued 4,318 warrants and summons to violators, making it clear that failure to pay fines will result in further legal action.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav stated that action against triple riding and other violations will continue in the coming days. Dedicated teams have been stationed on major roads to ensure sustained enforcement, he said, reiterating that strict measures are necessary to improve road safety and reduce accidents.
Police have urged commuters to cooperate with enforcement agencies and adhere to traffic regulations in the interest of public safety.
