Two Arrested In Pune For Betting On New Zealand – Australia T20 World Cup Final

Bibvewadi, 15th November 2021: The final match of the T20 World Cup between Australia and New Zealand was played in Dubai on Sunday. Australia beat New Zealand in the match to win the World Cup.

Meanwhile, a team of the Crime Branch of the Pune city police arrested two persons who were betting online. The incident took place at Vishnu Vihar Society in Bibvewadi.

The arrested have been identified as Omkar Raju Samudra (25) and Nikit Ajit Bothra (26). Rs 4.65 lakh have been confiscated from their possession. A case has been registered at Market Yard police station.

According to the police, they had received information that online betting was going on illegally during the final match of the World Cup. After that, the social security cell of the crime branch raided the flat in Vishnu Vihar apartment in Bibvewadi. The accused was seen gambling online on mobile and laptop during the cricket match between New Zealand and Australia. Police arrested the two and further investigation is underway.

The action was taken under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ramnath Pokle and DCP (Crime) Shriniwas Ghadge. The team included Police Inspector Shilpa Chavan, PSI Shridhar Khadke and their team members.
