Two Farmers From Solapur Killed In Road Accident On Way To Sell Watermelons In Pune

Loni Kalbhor, 7th May 2022: Two persons were killed when a truck collided with a tempo and a two-wheeler on the Pune-Solapur highway. Two people were critically injured in the accident and are undergoing treatment at a hospital. The truck driver was arrested in the case.

The deceased have been identified as Omkar Dattatraya Palekar (23) of Dahivali village in Madha taluka of Solapur district and Sunil Bhimrao Pawar (40) of Phoolchincholi in Pandharpur taluka of Solapur district. The injured have been identified as Mangesh Bakant Khochre (22) and Sarfaraz Khalid Jahagirdar (24), both residents of Dahivali village.

Rohit Gosavi (26), resident of Dahivali village has lodged a complaint at Loni Kalbhor Police Station. Truck driver Aniket Rajendra Londhe (26) of Chincholi in Madha taluka of Solapur district has been arrested in this case.

According to the information given by police, Rohit, Omkar and Sarfaraz are farmers who were going to the Market Yard in Pune at around 11 pm on Friday carrying watermelons in a tempo. On the other hand, motorist Sunil Pawar was going to Pune. The traffic was disrupted in front of Hotel Grand near Kadamwakvasti in Lonikalbhor around the same time.

At that time, the driver Pawar suddenly applied the brakes. The tempo coming from behind hit the two-wheeler. At that time, the driver Pawar got out of the bike and inspected his vehicle. Then the tempo driver Omkar got down. At that time, a truck heading towards Pune hit motorist Sunil and tempo driver Omkar who were standing on the road. Mangesh and Sarfaraz who were injured. Traffic in the area was disrupted after the accident.

The four critically injured were rushed to the hospital. Omkar died before treatment. While undergoing treatment, motorist Sunil died at the Sassoon hospital. Truck driver Londhe has been arrested. Police Sub Inspector Hanumant Tarte is investigating the case.
