New Delhi, 5th March 2025: Two Indian nationals from Kerala, who had been sentenced to death in separate murder cases in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), have been executed, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed.

The individuals, identified as Muhammed Rinash A from Kannur and Muraleedharan P V, faced capital punishment after their convictions in two different cases. Rinash was found guilty of murdering a UAE national, while Muraleedharan was sentenced for the killing of another Indian expatriate.

Rinash had been employed at a travel agency in Al Ain before his arrest. The UAE authorities carried out the executions and formally notified the Indian embassy on February 28. Following this, the embassy reached out to the families of both men.

According to the MEA, the Indian mission in the UAE had provided all possible legal and consular assistance throughout the judicial process. Mercy petitions and appeals for clemency were also submitted, but the UAE’s highest court upheld the sentences.

“The embassy is now coordinating efforts to facilitate the participation of their families in the final rites,” the MEA statement added.

This comes shortly after another execution in the UAE. On February 15, a woman from Uttar Pradesh was executed in Abu Dhabi after being convicted in the murder of an infant.
