Chinchwad, 6th March 2025: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray will celebrate the party’s 19th anniversary in Chinchwad on Sunday, 9th March. This marks the first time the party’s foundation day event will be held in the city. MNS leader Bala Nandgaonkar announced that office bearers from across the state will gather at the Ramkrishna More Auditorium from 10 am to 12 pm for the event.

MNS, founded 19 years ago, has witnessed significant political shifts over the years. Each year, Thackeray addresses party members on the anniversary, and this time, Pimpri-Chinchwad has been chosen as the venue at the request of MNS workers. Thackeray is expected to outline the party’s strategy for the upcoming municipal elections and discuss the party’s stance on the Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly elections. Speculation is also high that he may make key announcements regarding MNS’s future direction.

Pimpri-Chinchwad is a political stronghold of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, with two BJP MLAs and one NCP MLA representing the city. Thackeray’s remarks about the BJP and Ajit Pawar in their stronghold will be a further topic of discussion in the Maharashtra Politics.

MNS has had minimal influence in Pimpri-Chinchwad, with only one corporator in the municipal corporation. Additionally, internal divisions within the party have surfaced, as some office bearers were notably absent from a recent press conference held in preparation for the anniversary event. City president Sachin Chikhale downplayed the absence, citing health-related reasons and emphasizing that the announcement was intended for a select group of office bearers.

The decision to hold the event at Ramkrishna More Auditorium, a venue primarily used for theatrical performances, also stirred some controversy. Reports surfaced on social media about rehearsals being canceled to accommodate the MNS event. However, Bala Nandgaonkar clarified that the program was scheduled between 10 am and 12 pm, a slot with no scheduled rehearsals. He assured that had there been any conflicts, the event would have been moved to another location rather than disrupting pre-planned performances.
