Two Robberies in Pune: Sadashiv Peth Senior Citizen Targeted, Koregaon Park Woman Assaulted
Pune, 7th January 2026: Two separate robbery incidents were reported from different parts of the city, with a senior citizen being robbed at knifepoint in Sadashiv Peth, while a woman was assaulted and robbed of jewellery worth over Rs 11 lakh after burglars entered her flat in Koregaon Park.
In the first case, a 61-year-old man was threatened and robbed of cash and a gold ring worth around Rs 42,000 in the Limayewadi area of Sadashiv Peth on Sunday morning. According to a complaint lodged at the Vishrambaug police station, two unidentified youths, aged between 18 and 20 years, arrived on a two-wheeler and stopped the victim while he was walking. Their faces were covered, and one of the accused threatened the senior citizen by claiming to be armed. The duo then fled with the valuables.
Police have registered a case and are scanning CCTV footage from the Limayewadi and Tilak Road areas to identify and trace the suspects.
In the second incident, two burglars allegedly forced their way into a woman’s flat in Koregaon Park on Sunday evening and robbed her of gold jewellery worth approximately Rs 11.4 lakh. The incident occurred at a residential building in Lane No. 5. The accused knocked on the door and pushed their way inside when the woman opened it. They allegedly threatened her with a knife and demanded that she open the cupboard. When she resisted, the woman was assaulted and sustained injuries. She later approached the Koregaon Park police to lodge a complaint.
A case has been registered in this matter as well, and CCTV footage from the society premises and surrounding areas is being examined.
Senior police officers visited both crime scenes, and investigations are underway. Police officials said incidents of robbery and chain-snatching targeting pedestrians have shown an increase in the city over the past year.
