Pune 30th July 2023: The city president of Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray party Sanjay More has written a letter to the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde over alleged corruption in the tendering process for road construction in the jurisdiction of the Pune Municipal Corporation. More in his letter has demanded an enquiry by Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) in the matter and alleged corruption of over Rs 2,500 Core in the tendering process during the BJP and administrative rule in PMC.

“Pune Municipal Corporation has spent over Rs 2,500 Crore in the last five years on constructing concrete and tar roads. However, even with this, the roads in Pune city still appear to be in a state of disrepair. With such a huge expenditure all the roads in the city should have been properly reconstructed. We demand a CBI investigation into the tenders for the roads during the tenure of the ruling BJP and the administrative rule in the Pune Municipal Corporation” More stated in his letter to the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde which is als sent to both Deputy Chief Ministers of the state.

He has alleged that a new practice of corruption has been adopted in the last few years. The PMC appoints advisor and he is a paid a hefty amount for his job however the officials neglect the work. The concerned PMC officers join hands with the contractor and the advisor is paid around 2.5% amount of the project to settle the matter following which he never visits the site and there is no objection from anyone. The road contractor is liable to maintain the road for five years after construction but despite that every year during the monsoon PMC has to fill the potholes and the contractor is not asked questions, More alleged.
