Urgent Funds Needed for Newly Merged Villages In PMC: Shiv Sena’s Nana Bhangire Appeals to Pune Municipal Commissioner
Pune, 19th December 2024: Shiv Sena city chief Nana Bhangire has called on the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to urgently allocate funds for the development of 34 villages included in the municipal limits over the last seven years. Bhangire has submitted a formal representation to Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale, emphasizing that the lack of funds has severely hampered development in these areas, leaving the villagers without basic infrastructure improvements.
In his representation, Bhangire criticized the PMC for its inadequate funding and for diverting the already limited budget allocated for these villages to other wards in the city. He demanded that funds earmarked for these villages should not be redirected and called for a significant budget allocation for their development in the next financial year.
According to Bhangire, the PMC had earlier sought Rs 10,000 crore from the Maharashtra state government to facilitate development projects in the newly included villages. However, the requested amount has not been sanctioned. While awaiting these funds, the PMC has only allocated Rs 100–150 crore for these areas in its budget, a provision that Bhangire described as insufficient to meet the villages’ needs.
“The Municipal Corporation has demanded Rs 10,000 crore from the government for these 34 villages. Special efforts will be made to secure this amount through follow-ups with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Ajit Pawar,” said Pramod alias Nana Bhangire, urging prompt action.
Bhangire expressed concern over the perceived neglect of the villages, stating that this lack of development is leading to frustration among residents. He reiterated that immediate measures are necessary to ensure justice for the villages and to address their long-standing infrastructural needs.
