Kapurthala, 9th October 2026: A 16-coach Vande Bharat Chair Car trainset manufactured at Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala, successfully completed a high-speed trial at 180 kmph on the Mathura–Nagda section on October 8, 2026, under the supervision of the Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety (CCRS).

The trial assessed the trainset’s high-speed performance, operational efficiency and safety parameters. The successful completion of the inspection marks a milestone for the trainset manufactured at RCF Kapurthala, which is engaged in producing modern railway coaches and advanced trainsets.

The 16-coach trainset is equipped with an advanced propulsion system. Its high-speed trial was conducted as part of the assessment of its performance and safety at speeds of up to 180 kmph.

RCF Kapurthala is among India’s key railway coach manufacturing facilities, producing coaches for trainsets such as Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat. Its coaches have also been exported to countries in Asia and Africa.

The factory recorded its highest-ever annual production of 2,383 coaches in the financial year 2025–26, marking a record in its manufacturing output.

The successful trial adds to RCF Kapurthala’s work in manufacturing modern railway coaches and advanced trainsets for Indian Railways.
