Mhow, 10th March 2025: Celebrations following India’s historic victory in the ICC Champions Trophy took a violent turn in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, as clashes broke out between two communities. The situation escalated quickly, with stone-pelting, arson, and vandalism reported across several areas, prompting police to resort to lathicharge to control the crowd.

The unrest began when a victory procession, taken out by jubilant fans, passed through Jama Masjid Road. A dispute reportedly erupted between members of different communities, leading to a massive gathering of protestors. Soon after, clashes broke out, and groups began pelting stones at each other. The violence spread rapidly to areas including Patti Bazar, Market Chowk, Manak Chowk, Sabzi Market, Gaffar Hotel, and Connaught Road.

Amid the chaos, several shops and vehicles were set on fire, and petrol bombs were reportedly hurled in the Jama Masjid Road area. As tensions flared, police forces, led by Additional SP Rupesh Dwivedi and SDOP Dilip Singh Choudhary, rushed to the scene. Officers from Mhow Kotwali, Kishanganj, and Badgonda police stations were also deployed, supported by fire brigade teams patrolling the affected areas.

To prevent further escalation, police conducted a lathicharge to disperse the rioters. The authorities have since brought the situation under control, though security remains tight in the city to prevent any further disturbances.
