Prayagraj, (Uttar Pradesh), 18th January 2025: Harsha Richhariya, a 30-year-old woman who gained viral fame as the “Beautiful Sadhvi” on social media, has announced her decision to leave the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj. This decision comes in the wake of intense trolling and alleged boycott by a section of the Akhara community, leaving her disheartened and emotional.

Harsha, who identifies as a disciple of Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Kailashanand Giri Ji Maharaj of the Niranjani Akhara, had arrived at the Maha Kumbh to immerse herself in Sanatan culture and spirituality. However, her presence sparked controversy among certain religious groups after she was seen sitting on a chariot alongside saints during the Niranjani Akhara’s ceremonial entry into the cantonment.

The incident prompted Swami Anand Swaroop, the chief of Kali Sena, to express strong objections on social media. He criticized her participation, stating, “This Kumbh is not for showcasing models to the Akharas but for chanting, penance, and spiritual enlightenment. Action should be taken against this misdeed.”

Harsha, whose traditional attire and Rudraksha rosary initially led many to believe she was a young Sadhvi, clarified that she never claimed to be one. While her Instagram bio describes her as an anchor, social activist, and influencer, she had embraced a spiritual lifestyle two years ago, leaving behind her career in acting and modeling to seek inner peace or “sukoon.”

In a tearful video shared on Instagram, Harsha revealed the emotional toll of the backlash she faced. “A girl who came here to join religion and understand Sanatan culture has been made to feel unwelcome. The trolls and criticism have left me with no choice but to leave this Maha Kumbh, an event that comes once in a lifetime. Whoever has done this will bear the burden of this sin,” she said, breaking into tears.

Harsha further alleged that the constant scrutiny and accusations made her feel unsafe and humiliated. “I came here with pure intentions, but now I feel like a criminal. I can’t stay here anymore,” she added.

The controversy around Harsha’s participation highlights the deep divide between traditionalist and modern perspectives at the Maha Kumbh. While her supporters admire her for promoting spirituality and Sanatan culture, critics within the religious community have questioned her legitimacy and intentions, labeling her presence as inappropriate.
