21st November 2023: Volkswagen expands its Taigun lineup with the introduction of the Sound Edition, following the Trail Edition. Notably, the Sound Edition is now available for both the Taigun and the Volkswagen Virtus, featuring cosmetic enhancements and a range of additional features. Limited in availability, the Taigun Sound Edition is priced at Rs 16.33 lakh for the manual variant and Rs 17.90 lakh for the automatic, accessible for booking online or at your nearest dealership, with an additional cost of Rs 49,000 for the manual and Rs 55,000 for the automatic version.

Externally, the Sound Edition introduces graphic changes and four new color options: Carbon Steel Grey, Lava Red, Rising Blue, and Wild Cherry Red. White-colored roof rails and ORVM add a distinctive touch, while graphics and sound batchings adorn the rear. However, the core design elements remain unchanged both inside and outside, ensuring continuity of the existing aesthetic.

Inside the cabin, the Taigun Sound Edition retains its comprehensive feature set, including an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto connectivity. Other highlights comprise connected car technology, cruise control, a single-pane voice-assist sunroof, automatic climate control, a height-adjustable driver seat with ventilated sheet, and ambient lighting. The Sound Edition enhances the offering with power seats in the front row and an audio system featuring 7 speakers, subwoofer, and amplifier.

Safety remains a priority, with the Taigun achieving a 5-star safety rating in Global NCAP. Standard safety features include six airbags, electronic stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system, rear-view parking camera with seat belt reminder, and ISOFIX child seat anchors. The engine configuration remains unchanged, powered by the current 1.0-liter TSI petrol engine generating 115 bhp and 175 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed manual or automatic torque converter unit.

Distinctively designed on the Dynamic Line, the Taigun Sound Edition exclusively features the 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine. In contrast, the regular variant offers a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine with 150 bhp and 250 Nm of torque, equipped with a seven-speed DCT or six-speed manual gearbox. Positioned in the competitive Indian market, the Taigun faces rivals like Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, Toyota Hyrider, Honda Elevate, and Kia Seltos.
