Voting Confusion in Pune: Woman’s Photo Displayed Against Male Voter Name
Pune, 15th January 2026: Voting for the Pune Municipal Corporation elections faced a minor administrative hiccup on Thursday when a male voter discovered a photograph mismatch at his polling station, causing temporary confusion.
Ravindra Vasant Javkhedkar, a resident of Pune, noticed the error during the standard verification process. “Instead of my photograph, the electoral roll displayed the image of an unknown woman next to my name,” he said.
When Javkhedkar alerted the polling officials, they admitted that they could not immediately rectify the issue, stating that the error was beyond their control. As a result, he had to return home to fetch his Aadhaar card for proper identity verification. Once his documents were verified, he was finally allowed to cast his vote.
The incident highlights minor but notable administrative lapses occurring amid the ongoing municipal elections—the first in nine years—for the city’s 165 corporator positions across 41 wards.
