Warm Nights Return to Pune; Day Temperatures Cross 35°C in Several Areas
Pune, 27th March 2026: The city is witnessing warmer nights, with minimum temperatures rising across several areas, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Official data shows that Shivajinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 21.3°C, marking one of the first instances this summer when night temperatures have crossed the 20°C mark. Similar conditions were observed in Pashan, while Lohegaon and Chinchwad recorded the highest minimum temperatures at 25.6°C and 25.4°C, respectively.
Weather officials said that although maximum temperatures had dipped slightly over the past few days, they have begun rising again. Several parts of the city, including Koregaon Park, Pashan, Shivajinagar, Wadgaon Sheri and Magarpatta, are consistently recording daytime temperatures above 35°C, resulting in intense afternoon heat.
According to IMD forecasts, maximum temperatures across most parts of Maharashtra, except Vidarbha, are likely to rise by 1–2°C over the next three days, followed by a gradual decline. Pune and nearby areas are expected to experience partly cloudy skies during this period.
S. D. Sanap, a scientist at the IMD Pune observatory, said increased moisture due to winds from the sea has raised humidity levels. This is expected to have a greater impact on regions such as Marathwada, Vidarbha and south-central Maharashtra, where there are chances of rainfall. Other regions, including Pune, may experience afternoon cloud cover, which could eventually lead to a slight drop in temperatures after a brief rise.
Meanwhile, Akola recorded the highest temperature in the state at 41.8°C on Thursday. Several other cities also reported high temperatures, including Pune (38°C), Ahilyanagar (38.2°C), Jalgaon (39.5°C), Solapur (39.4°C), and Nagpur (38.8°C). In Vidarbha, temperatures crossed the 40°C mark in multiple locations, indicating intensifying heat conditions in the region.
