We are stuck between job classification of labor work and the white-collar job- Vishwas Lokare

Pune, May 14, 2018: “In India, any labor work done with hands is always looked down upon. Whereas that is not the case abroad. We are stuck between job classification of labor work and thewhite-collar job,” expressed Vishwas Lokare, President of Pune Construction Engineering Research Foundation (PCERF)during an event recently held at Bhageerath auditorium of Persistence Systems Ltd.

The event was organised by Dyanada Institute of Flow Piping Technology (DIFPT)on the occasion of the completion of seven years to the trust. Lokare being the chief guest launched the official website of DIFPT and unveiledthe bookon Skilling written by Subhash Inamdar,Director, DIFPT.

Also, MLAMedha Kulkarni, SarveshJavdekar of Vilas JavdekarDevelopers Dr. Pravin Dabalgaon, prantkaryavah, RashtriyaSwayamsevak Sangh’s Western Maharashtra province, Abhay Math, Director, DIFPTand Subash Inamdar, Director, DIFPT were present during the occasion.

Lokareaffirmed that plumbing and waterproofingare very important in the housing system for the consumer and overall labor work should be valued and respected.

Medha Kulkarni said,”Pt. Dindayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushal Yojna, Pradhan MantriKaushalya Vikas Yojana and National Skill Development Authority are providing funds for skill development. It is important to have psychological transformation towards skill development and we are thoroughly working towards it.”

She further highlighted, “Even earlier such schemes existed, but they were not reaching the people. This Government, however, is closely monitoring that no fake work is displayed through schemes and ensure spreading the schemesappropriately. We are insisting on establishing skill development University in Pune and also will try to make availability of space and funds for skill development insitutuions. “

“It is possible to save water and meet the demands in water scarcity using modern technology in plumbing. But due to lack of skilled manpower, there are difficulties in implementing it,” stated SarveshJavdekar

Subhash Inamdar said that finding and sustaining students for plumbing training is a major problem. “Most young people have dreams of becoming rich overnight. It is necessary to make skill training mandatory from 8th class in schools. We are trying to make DIFPT as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ in the subject of plumbing.

Abhay Math has informed that the organisation has created ‘KaushalyaDoot’ (skill messenger)to spread the benefit of plumbing training to the unemployed youth.Ha added, “So far DIFPT have trained over 800 students with plumbing skills. The organisation is soon to start plumbing training for women. Gas piping which has industrial potential is also included in the skill training syllabus.”
