Samosa Dispute Turns Violent in Pune's Shirur

Shirur, 15th July 2026: A minor dispute over the order in which samosas were served allegedly escalated into an assault at a sweet shop in Karegaon village of Shirur taluka. Police have registered a case against two men for allegedly assaulting a 26-year-old worker, abusing him, and issuing threats after questioning why another customer was served before them.

The complainant, Raju Laburam Devasi (26), a resident of Karegaon in Shirur taluka, lodged a complaint with the Ranjangaon MIDC Police. Based on his complaint, police have booked Ishwar Ranganath Navale and Sai Laxman Navale, both residents of Karegaon.

According to the Ranjangaon MIDC Police, Devasi works as a labourer at Shivshakti Sweet Home in Karegaon. The incident took place at around 5 pm on July 13, 2026, when the accused allegedly visited the shop to purchase samosas and paid for their order.

Before serving them, Devasi reportedly handed samosas to another customer who had arrived at the shop. Enraged by this, the accused allegedly questioned him, asking why another customer had been served before them. The argument soon escalated, and the accused allegedly assaulted Devasi with their hands. The complaint further states that they also abused and threatened him.

Police have registered an FIR against the two accused at the Ranjangaon MIDC Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
The incident has drawn attention locally, as a disagreement over the sequence of serving customers allegedly escalated into violence, highlighting concerns over increasing intolerance in everyday public interactions.
