Wipro Accused Of Unethical Treatment Towards Its Fresher Employees

Pune, 19th April 2023: The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has strongly condemned the actions of Wipro, a prominent IT services company, towards its fresher employees.

In a recent email to fresher employees who had completed their 4-month unpaid velocity training, Wipro informed them that they only had a 3.5 LPA Project Engineer job profile available. If employees accepted this offer letter, their previous offer letter of 6.5 LPA would be nullified. Many of these fresher employees accepted the new offer letter, only to be hit with another blow.

According to Harpreet Saluja, President of NITES, in March 2022, before starting the unpaid velocity training of Wipro, the company’s HR department assured the employees that if they successfully completed the training, they would not have to undergo training again in the company. However, after joining the company on 30th March 2023, Wipro suddenly changed its stance and said that the employees have to go through training again. Wipro also mentioned that if the employees do not clear the Project Readiness Program (PRP) training with an overall score of at least 60%, they will be terminated immediately.

This sudden change in Wipro’s policy has left many of its fresher employees in a difficult situation, especially since they have already wasted their 1.5 years and are now playing with their future. The company’s threatening approach, which only talks about termination, is causing immense stress and anxiety among the employees.

Saluja further stated that “Wipro’s actions towards its fresher employees are unethical, unfair and unjust. The company’s misleading communication and sudden changes in policy have put the future of these employees at risk. NITES demands that Wipro rectify its actions immediately and provide fair and just treatment to its employees. We are in communication with the affected employees and are exploring all possible avenues to help them during this difficult time.”

Wipro is yet to respond to these allegations made by NITES.
