Cashless bus rides in Mumbai as FreeCharge ties up with Ridlr

Mumbai, 14 December 2016: FreeCharge today announced its partnership with Ridlr, the official mobile ticketing partners of BEST. Using the services of FreeCharge and Ridlr, BEST commuters can now pay for their bus tickets and monthly passes digitally, saving them the hassle of finding change everyday and waiting in queues at bus depots for renewal of passes.

BEST is the first public intra-city bus agency to go fully digital in India, creating a system for less cash dependency and better cash management. With solutions like these, FreeCharge&Ridlr are making payments for daily urban commutes easy and convenient. In order to book a BEST ticket, all the user has to do is to get on the bus, enter the bus & trip details and pay using the FreeCharge wallet to get the token. This token can then be showed to the conductor when asked to get the printed ticket. To recharge the BEST pass, the consumer just needs to enter her 14 digit card number, pay the amount using FreeCharge and get it validated from the conductor on her next trip.

FreeCharge has existing tie-ups in the travel domain with redbus, Rapido, Jugnoo, Shuttl, mybustickets.in which aim at making payments for daily commute a hassle free experience. The Ridlr partnership is another such step to embed cashless payments options in all daily commute requirements.

In addition to booking BEST bus tickets and recharging passes, a consumer can also use the Ridlr app for booking Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) AC route tickets and recharging their Mumbai Metro smartcard while paying using FreeCharge.
