IIMs rush to offer Executive MBA programs

India- An Executive MBA is a post-graduate degree of full one year and is pursued by professionals to improve their career prospects.  As the name itself suggests, it’s a degree of management for Executives. Therefore, this course is generally preferred by the people with job experience of almost 10+ years. This course is also meant for business leaders like managers, entrepreneurs, etc.  

According to the Economic Times, executive education programs are becoming popular among recruiters. Recruiters are very eager to recruit students with extensive experience and knowledge of management education. These executive programs are earning popularity with time because of the growing alumni network and industry awareness.

MBA v/s Executive MBA

The confusion of the difference between Executive MBA and regular MBA is common among students. But two courses are entirely different. Regular MBA is for mid-career professionals seeking to make a jump in their career. The executive course is for Senior Executives to enhance their CVs and make them more valuable in the market.

Executive MBA is generally a part-time course.  It has comparatively relaxed entrance criteria. For entry to the top institutes in a regular MBA course, students need a very high score in GMAT/CAT/GRE whereas, admission into EMBA is more based on profile rather than GMAT scores. The competition in usual MBA courses is tough as compared to other executive courses.

Executive MBA admission Process:

This course is generally offered by all IIM’s.

• First, check for the eligibility and required work experience.
• Register on the college website for the particular course.
• The applicants have to give an entrance test.
• Selected candidates will go for the next round i.e. group discussion.
• The last step is Personal Interview.
• The candidate will also require SOP and a Letter of Recommendation.
• The candidate is shortlisted based on the overall profile and entrance score.
• Fees of the application form are different for different IIM’s.

Eligibility:

• Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% awarded by any recognized University.
• Applicants should have a minimum age of 24 years or above.
• Working professionals and Entrepreneurs.
• They should have a job experience of a minimum of 3 Years.
• They should have a GMAT/GRE score.
• Higher the score higher the chances of conversion.

Executive programs offered by IIM’s 

Many top management colleges like IIM Ahemdabad, IIM Kolkata, IIM Banglore currently offer this course. The EMBA is more expensive than other regular courses offered by the colleges.  

IIM Ahmedabad offers Post Graduate Programme for Executives (PGPX) course and considers it to be one of the finest management courses in the world.  It has designed this course for bright, enthusiastic and aspirational candidates. This programme is for top talents coming from diverse industries. It is also ranked among top-5 in the world on Financial Times Career Progression category.

IIM Bangalore offers Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP). It is a full time one-year intense programme. It is designed basically for executives with a work experience of 5-12 years in wide range of industries.  It is built on the diverse and extensive work experience of students.

IIM Calcutta offers Post Graduate Programme for Executives (PGPEX). It is an ideal programme for middle managers with 5 year experience to boost up their career options. This programme is also ranked among top 10 in the world for career progression.

EPGP is also offered by IIM Indore. It is an intense residential programme for one year. It is designed to bridge the knowledge gap and impart skills for managing and leading organizations. 

IIM Lucknow offers International Programmes in Management for Executives (IMPX) in its Noida campus. It is also a 1-year full-time course.  This program prepares students for leadership roles and is basically designed for mid/senior professionals. 

IIM Kozhikode offers a one year, full time, residential program known as Post Graduate in Business Leadership (PGP-BL). This program is specially designed to combine academic instructions with global exposure.

IIM Shillong offers a one year MBA is Post Graduate Programme for Executives – Managing Business in India and China (PGPEx – MBIC).  It is a 14 months program that aims at equipping the participants with adequate knowledge and business skills for managing businesses in India and China.

IIM Udaipur offers a program called PGPX. It is a 15-month program, which in the end, will provide an MBA and MS degree from one of the top universities in India and the US. It provides them a chance of working with students from across the world by giving an option of a full semester of five months at Purdue University, USA.
