30-Foot Ravana Effigy Burnt at Pune Lokmanya Festival on Dussehra
Pune, 3rd October 2025: The Pune Lokmanya Festival celebrated Dussehra with the symbolic burning of a 30-foot effigy of Ravana near Lokmanya Nagar Jogging Park on Thursday night.
The towering effigy represented evils such as drought, tyranny, rising crime, unemployment, and terrorism. As the structure went up in flames, a large crowd of citizens from Pune and nearby areas gathered to witness the spectacle.
The air was filled with chants of “Jai Shri Ram, Jai Jai Shri Ram”, as devotees raised slogans and celebrated the victory of good over evil. The burning was accompanied by a colorful display of firecrackers, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Providing details of the event, founder president of the Pune Lokmanya Festival, Adv. Ganesh Satpute, said that the effigy was created as a reminder of social challenges that need to be overcome. Dr. Naresh Mittal served as the chief guest, while Shubhangi Satpute acted as the convener of the festival.
The event concluded with enthusiastic participation, continuing the tradition of uniting communities through the symbolic message of Dussehra.
