Pimpri-Chinchwad, 28th May 2025: A total of 72 buildings and houses in Pimpri-Chinchwad have been declared dangerous by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), with three of them categorized as extremely hazardous. The highest number of such structures—34—fall within the jurisdiction of the ‘D’ ward office. Notices have been issued to the owners of all these dangerous buildings.

Over the past several days, the city and its surrounding areas have witnessed continuous heavy rainfall. This has raised concerns over the risk of building collapses during the monsoon. In response, the Building Permissions Department of the PCMC has appealed to residents to either demolish the identified dangerous structures or carry out urgent repairs to ensure safety.

According to municipal officials, the notices were served to prompt action before any potential mishaps occur. So far, eight property owners have responded by initiating or completing necessary repairs.

City Engineer Makarand Nikam confirmed that the civic body conducted a survey to identify these vulnerable structures and has been actively encouraging residents to take timely preventive measures. He added that while a few have cooperated, the remaining property owners are urged to act swiftly to avoid endangering lives.
