Pune: 7 Dead, Several Injured as Pickup Van Falls Off Slope in Mahalunge MIDC Area
Chakan, 11th August 2025: Seven people, including women and children, lost their lives and several others were injured after a pickup van fell 25 to 30 feet down a slope in the Mahalunge MIDC area on Monday morning.
The incident occurred when a group from Faplawadi village was travelling to Kundeshwar Temple for darshan on the occasion of Shravan Monday. The ill-fated vehicle, bearing registration number MH 14 GD 7299, reportedly lost control before tumbling down the slope.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Shivaji Pawar said, “Preliminary information suggests that the pickup van carrying women and children from Faplawadi skidded and fell into a slope near Mahalunge MIDC. Seven deaths have been confirmed so far, and the injured have been shifted to different hospitals for treatment. We are investigating the exact cause of the accident.”
Police said some of the injured are in critical condition and are receiving treatment at various medical facilities in and around Pimpri Chinchwad. Further details about the victims’ identities and the vehicle’s condition are awaited.
