Pune, 16th July 2026: Baramati Railway Station in Pune Division of Central Railway has undergone a comprehensive transformation under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), emerging with a modern design, upgraded passenger facilities and improved accessibility. Redeveloped at a cost of ₹11.40 crore, the station is expected to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 17.

The revamped station now features a redesigned station building with enhanced architectural aesthetics inspired by the local culture of Baramati while incorporating contemporary infrastructure. The redevelopment aims to improve passenger convenience through upgraded amenities and better station circulation.

Among the major upgrades is a modern entrance gate leading to a newly developed circulating area that facilitates smoother movement of passengers and vehicles. Parking facilities have also been expanded and upgraded to accommodate more commuters arriving by private vehicles.

Passengers will now have access to renovated waiting halls, a modernized VIP lounge, new toilet blocks and improved drinking water facilities. Platform infrastructure has also been upgraded with better platform surfaces and new platform covers to enhance passenger comfort during all seasons.

The station has been equipped with standardized modern signages and improved lighting to make navigation easier for passengers. Divyangjan-friendly facilities, including barrier-free access, have been incorporated across the station to improve accessibility.

The redevelopment also includes improvements to the station’s compound wall and entrance infrastructure, giving the railway station a refreshed appearance while strengthening overall passenger safety and convenience.

Baramati Railway Station handles around 1,800 passengers daily and serves eight passenger train services every day. It acts as an important rail link for Baramati, a major agricultural, industrial and educational centre in eastern Pune district.

Originally opened in 1914 as a narrow-gauge railway station, Baramati was later converted to broad gauge, strengthening its connectivity with Maharashtra’s railway network. The station remains directly connected to the town through the main road and State Highways, with auto-rickshaws and other local transport services providing last-mile connectivity.

The redevelopment has been carried out under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, through which Indian Railways is upgrading railway stations across the country with improved passenger amenities, modern infrastructure and enhanced accessibility while incorporating regional architectural elements.
