Ahilyanagar: Police, Military Intelligence Joint Operation Leads to Detection of Suspected Bangladeshi Nationals in Kedgaon
Ahilyanagar, 20th September 2026: A joint operation by Ahilyanagar Police and the Army’s Southern Command Military Intelligence unit in Ahilyanagar led to the detection of two individuals suspected to be Bangladeshi nationals during a raid in the Dipnagar area of Kedgaon on September 19, officials said.
The operation was conducted based on specific intelligence regarding suspected illegal activities involving foreign nationals. During the operation, police also detected an alleged prostitution racket and booked two people under relevant provisions of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
According to a press note issued by Kotwali Police, Police Inspector Nitin Deshmukh had received specific information that a woman was allegedly providing premises to women for prostitution, collecting money from customers and living on the proceeds.
Acting on the information, a joint team conducted a raid at the premises at around 3.40 pm on September 19. Police identified the accused as Saida Afsar Khan, 54, a resident of Zenda Chowk, Kedgaon, and Chhoturam Narayan Rayji, 70, a resident of Kedgaon. A woman allegedly being pushed into prostitution was also found at the premises, police said.
During the subsequent inquiry, officials traced the woman’s husband, identified as MD Tutul Mulla, 37, who was stated to be a resident of Khulna district in Bangladesh.
Military Intelligence, Ahilyanagar, said the operation was part of its efforts to act on inputs concerning the presence of suspected illegal immigrants, including Bangladeshi nationals and nationals of other countries, within its area of responsibility.
The identity, nationality and other credentials of the individuals are currently being verified. Officials are also conducting further inquiries to establish their circumstances, local contacts and any possible network or linkages.
According to the Military Intelligence input, the unit had also conducted an operation in June 2025 in the MIDC area of Ahilyanagar based on inputs concerning suspected illegal immigrants. The unit said such operations are undertaken as part of efforts to identify and address security concerns within its area of responsibility.
Kotwali Police have registered Crime No. 913/2026 under Sections 3, 4, 5 and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. Further investigation is underway.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Mummaka Sudarshan, Additional Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Kalubarme and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dilip Tiparse.
The raiding team comprised Police Inspector Nitin Deshmukh, Police Sub-Inspector Ganesh Deshmukh, Assistant Sub-Inspector Sunil Shirsat, Head Constables Santosh Lad, Rahul Shinde, Balkrishna Londhe, Deepak Rathod, Suraj Kadam, Dattatray Kotkar and Shirish Tarate; Police Constables Sandeep Kakade, Sachin Lolge and Satyam Shinde; Driver Police Constable Pote; Woman Police Naik Varsha Pandit; Woman Police Constable Pallavi Rohakale; and Mobile Cell Police Constable Rahul Gunde.
Officials said the investigation is continuing to establish the full circumstances of the case and verify the identities and credentials of those involved.
