Pune, 6th February 2026: Athletes from several countries, including India, Brazil, Sweden and Russia, faced unexpected difficulties on the opening day of the Abu Dhabi Open Masters Games after discovering that the Accreditation Centre was closed, despite prior official communication stating it would be operational.

Many international participants arrived early to collect their mandatory identification and accreditation cards, only to find no officials present and no clear instructions at the venue. The situation caused confusion and concern, especially as the Opening Ceremony of the Games is scheduled for later this evening.

The issue has particularly affected teams travelling long distances, including a contingent from Pune, India, who were assured access to the accreditation facility upon arrival. Athletes expressed disappointment over the lack of coordination and on-ground support from the organisers.

Speaking on the matter, Raj Singh said, “Athletes from across the globe have travelled thousands of kilometres to be part of this prestigious event. Being officially informed that accreditation would be available, and then finding the centre closed with no authority present, is extremely frustrating and unprofessional.”

Participants have urged the event organisers to take immediate corrective action to ensure all athletes receive their credentials without further delay, so the Games can proceed smoothly and the spirit of international sportsmanship is upheld.
