Action Against Encroachment in Dhankawadi-Sahakarnagar: 7,200 Sq. Ft. Demolished
Dhankawadi, 18th September 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) carried out a major demolition drive against unauthorized constructions in the Dhankawadi-Sahakarnagar regional office limits on Wednesday. The action targeted illegal structures from Dattanagar to Jambhulwadi and Dattanagar to Ambegaon, following repeated complaints from citizens about encroachments causing traffic congestion.
The joint operation was conducted by the Construction Development Department (Zone 2) and the Encroachment Department under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Sandeep Khalate, Deputy Commissioner (Zone 3) Vijaykumar Thorat, and Municipal Assistant Commissioner Surekha Bhange.
On-ground staff included Junior Engineer Mohan Chavan, Encroachment Inspector Sagar Vibhute, Assistant Inspector Hanmant Katkar, and officials Prathamesh Patil, Kiran Navale, Atul Brahmankar, Vinod Dudhe, Prashant Kolekar, and Dinesh Navale. The operation was supported by three policemen, four Maharashtra Security Force personnel, and 19 workers.
During the drive, approximately 7,200 sq. ft. of unauthorized construction was demolished. Authorities also removed 11 huts and seized items including one handcart, five low counters, one steel counter, five stone benches, one refrigerator, and ten miscellaneous items. In total, five truckloads of material were confiscated.
The Municipal Corporation stated that similar large-scale operations against illegal constructions and encroachments will continue in the future.
