Iowa, 4th January 2024: Reports of an active shooter situation at Perry High School in Iowa have led to a rapid response from law enforcement agencies. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the incident, which occurred around 9 am on the first day of the second semester after the winter break. While multiple law enforcement vehicles and an ambulance are present at the scene, confirmation of casualties is still pending.

President Joe Biden is closely monitoring the situation, with senior officials maintaining contact with the Iowa governor’s office, according to a White House official. The initial report of the active shooter came at approximately 7:40 a.m. local time, prompting the evacuation and dismissal of the middle school and elementary school by 8:32 a.m.

Vivek Ramaswamy, a Republican presidential candidate hosting a campaign event in Perry, expressed solidarity with the community, urging prayers for Perry, Iowa. Linda Andorf, the board president for the Perry Community School District, condemned the incident as “disgusting” and called for individuals to reassess their actions in the wake of such a horrendous event.
