After Objection From Defence Authorities, Work Of Pune-Nashik High Speed Rail Project Halted In Khed Taluka

Pune, 24th May 2022: While the work of the Pune-Nashik High-Speed Rail project is in full swing in the district, the work of this project in Khed tehsil of Pune district has been objected to by the Defence Authorities. Therefore, work on this site has been stopped immediately. The district administration said that discussions are underway to acquire land in alternative villages.

Maharashtra Railway Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. is a joint venture between the Maharashtra State Government and the Ministry of Railways. The company is building up this high-speed railway network. The railway line is proposed from Pune, Nagar and Nashik districts. It covers a total of 54 villages in four talukas of the Pune district namely Haveli, Khed, Ambegaon and Junnar. The first station in the Pune district is Hadapsar. It also includes stations like Manjari, Wagholi, Alandi, Chakan, Rajgurunagar, Manchar, Narayangaon, Alephata. Among the major stations, Chakan, Manchar and Narayangaon will be agricultural production and private freight terminals and Rajgurunagar station will be only for passenger transport.

Recently the Defence Authorities raised objections to Project work in Khed Tehsil.

Speaking about this, Pune District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh said, “The defence department has objected to the alignment of the project in Khed taluka. They did not raise any objection during the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) by the Railways and now the work has been halted due to sudden objections. Attempts are being made by the administration to acquire land in alternative villages.”

Meanwhile, 26 purchases have been made for this project in the Pune district so far. Pune, Ahmednagar and Nashik districts have the highest number of purchases. The measuring work of 40 out of 54 villages in the district has been completed, Deshmukh added.
