Pune, 21st January 2024: The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is taking decisive action against irregularities in the use of FASTags, declaring that all FASTags with incomplete Know Your Customer (KYC) details will be deactivated or blacklisted by issuing banks after January 31.

Recent reports have exposed instances of multiple FASTags being issued for a single vehicle and distribution without adhering to KYC guidelines. Out of the approximately seven crore issued FASTags, only four crores are active, with a concerning 1.2 crores identified as duplicates.

NHAI’s Pune project director has urged users to adhere to the ‘One Vehicle, One FASTag’ principle, emphasizing that linking multiple toll collection tools to a single vehicle goes against established norms. To enforce this, FASTags with incomplete KYC will be rendered inactive or blacklisted by banks post-January 31.

To ensure compliance and avoid inconvenience, users can check their FASTag status on the dedicated website: fastag.ihmcl.com. By logging in with their registered mobile number, accessing the “My Profile” section, and entering OTP, users can verify their KYC status and update any pending details by January 31.

Users must adhere to RBI guidelines for FASTag KYC updates, providing documents such as the vehicle registration certificate, identity proof, address proof, and a passport-size photo. Acceptable documents include Passport, Voter’s ID, Aadhar Card, Driving Licence, PAN Card, and NREGA Job Card.

Online KYC Update Process:
