All India Pali Literature Conference To Be Held In Pune On March 22
Pune, 17th March 2026: The All India Pali Literature Conference will be held on March 22 at the Savitribai Phule Cultural Bhavan in Bhavani Peth and the organisers are expecting participation from scholars and enthusiasts from across the country.
The day-long event, scheduled from 10 am to 6 pm, is being organised by the Padmapani Foundation in collaboration with the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies at Savitribai Phule Pune University.
Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale will inaugurate the conference. Among those expected to attend are Bhadant Harshbodhi Mahathero, international Dhamma preacher Gagan Malik, Pune deputy mayor Parshuram Wadekar, conference president Dr Bimalendra Kumar, and former deputy mayor Dr Siddharth Dhende.
The conference will bring together experts in Pali language and Buddhist studies, including Dr Mahesh Degavkar, Abdul Momin, Dr Yojana Bhagat, Dharmadeep Chawade, Dr Gautam Chabukswar, and Padmapani Foundation director Suvarna Dambale.
Sessions will focus on Pali language, Buddhist literature, research and cultural traditions, along with efforts to promote and preserve the language.
Organisers said the previous edition of the conference received an enthusiastic response and similar participation is expected this year. Over 1,000 people having already registered or made enquiries, the organisers said.
Padmapani Foundation president Rahul Dambale and members of the organising committee have appealed to citizens interested in Pali language and Buddhist literature to participate in large numbers.
