ATS Recovers Google Images of Mumbai’s Chhabad House Form Suspected Terrorists Arrested from Pune, Security Beefed Up
Pune 30th July 2023: The security outside Chabad House of Mumbai’s Colaba was beefed up on Saturday after the ATS team found Google images of the location from the possession of suspected terrorists arrested from Pune. The Investigation Officer informed the court while seeking the custody of the accused that a detailed investigation on the plan and purpose of holding these images needed to be investigated.
It may be noted that Chabad House, a Jewish Community Center in Mumbai was one of the targets of terrorists in 26/11 attack in 2008. The Mumbai Police conducted mock drill of the area to check preparedness soon after receiving inputs from ATS team. The ATS team on Saturday arrested one more person from Ratnagiri for assisting the two suspected terrorists arrested from Pune’s Kothrud earlier.
It may be noted that the Pune City Police had arrested two accused identifed as Mohammad Yunus Mohammad Saki and Mohammad Imran Mohammad Yusuf Khan from Kothrud while one more accused managed to escape. During their house search some incriminating material and explosive was recovered. It was also found that the accused were in the list of NIA’s ‘Most Wanted’.
The case was later handed over to ATS for further investigation and the ATS team has so far arrested two more accused identifed as Abdul Qadir Dastagir Pathan (32), a resident of Gondia and Simab Nasruddin Kazi (27), a resident of Ratnagiri district.
