Ber Fruit Season Begins: 20% Increase In Arrival At Pune’s Market Yard

Market Yard, 10th December 2024: The sweet and tangy taste of Ber (jujube) fruits is back in demand as the season kicks off with a 20% increase in arrivals at the Market Yard fruit market compared to last week.

Ber fruits have been arriving at the market for the past 15 days, with daily imports now reaching 2,000-2,500 sacks. The supply, which started slow, has picked up significantly and is expected to continue until the end of March. These fruits are sourced from regions such as Solapur, Ahilyanagar, and Rajasthan. Favorable weather conditions, including cloudy skies, have boosted production this season.

Ber fruits are popular among vendors in the city and suburban areas, as well as tourist destinations like Panchgani, Mahabaleshwar, Lonavala, and the Konkan region. Demand for the fruit typically peaks from late December through the Sankranti festival in January. Traders have also noted that prices remain stable compared to last year.

– Umran: ₹80 – ₹100 per kg
– Checknet: ₹600 – ₹700 per kg
– Chanyamanya: ₹550 – ₹750 per kg
