Solapur Division Holds TB Awareness Programmes on World Tuberculosis Day

Solapur, 26th March 2026: The Solapur Division of Central Railway observed World Tuberculosis Day on March 24, 2026, by organising a series of tuberculosis awareness programmes at Dr. Kotnis Memorial Divisional Railway Hospital in Solapur and the Polyclinic at Wadi. The programmes focused on spreading awareness about tuberculosis, its prevention, early diagnosis and treatment.

An awareness lecture was delivered by guest speaker Dr. Sonali Mahindrakar, Medical Officer at Degaon Primary Health Centre. The session covered the causes, symptoms and transmission of tuberculosis, with emphasis on preventive measures, early detection and adherence to prescribed treatment for complete recovery.

During the programme, Chief Medical Superintendent of Solapur Division, Dr. Manjunath G. S., spoke about ongoing national efforts aimed at eliminating tuberculosis and highlighted the role of healthcare professionals and community participation in the fight against the disease. He also addressed the issue of social stigma associated with tuberculosis and encouraged people to adopt healthy practices.

A similar awareness session was conducted at the Polyclinic in Wadi by Divisional Medical Officer Dr. Raghunandan and Divisional Medical Officer Dr. Sravan, extending the awareness outreach to railway beneficiaries in the Wadi area.

According to officials, around 130 beneficiaries participated in the awareness sessions conducted at both locations. The programmes included lectures and information sessions focusing on tuberculosis awareness, prevention and treatment.
