CM Devendra Fadnavis Orders Action on Illegal Godowns and Infiltrators in Pimpri-Chinchwad
Mumbai, 9th December 2024: Addressing the long-standing issues of illegal godowns and Bangladeshi infiltrators in the Chikhali-Kudalwadi area of Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune district, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed immediate action from the administration. Pimpri-Chinchwad Police and the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) have been instructed to tackle these concerns, as informed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Bhosari, Mahesh Landge.
Earlier today, a massive fire broke out in a scrap godown in the Chikhali-Kudalwadi area. The fire produced thick smoke visible from up to 10 kilometres away. Although the damage was extensive, no injuries or casualties were reported.
During a special session of the Maharashtra Government in Mumbai, Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge raised concerns about the incident and other related issues plaguing the area. In response to Landge’s letter, Chief Minister Fadnavis acted promptly by instructing the relevant authorities to initiate the necessary measures.
The Chikhali-Kudalwadi area in Pimpri-Chinchwad is grappling with two major concerns: illegal godowns operating without adhering to PCMC Fire Brigade regulations and Bangladeshi infiltrators attempting to seek asylum using fake documents. Over the past year, more than 70 such infiltrators have been apprehended in Pimpri-Chinchwad. This issue has grown into a significant safety concern, extending beyond the city and posing risks to the entire state of Maharashtra.
BJP MLA Mahesh Landge emphasized: “There are frequent fire incidents in the illegal scrap shops in the Chikhali-Kudalwadi area. Although the administration takes action, these shops are quickly re-established. There is suspicion that Bangladeshi infiltrators work in these shops, and in some cases, it has been confirmed. This raises serious safety concerns for the city of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has issued orders, and appropriate action will be taken.”
