CNG Sales to Be Suspended at Offline Torrent Gas Stations in Pune Rural from May 1: Petrol Dealers Association

Pune, 30th April 2025: The Petrol Dealers Association (PDA), Pune, has announced the suspension of CNG sales at all Torrent Gas-operated fuel stations in Pune rural areas that rely on offline truck-based supply. The suspension will come into effect from May 1, 2025, citing persistent irregularities and prolonged supply disruptions.
According to PDA President Dhruv Ruparel, the decision was prompted by the daily occurrence of “dry-outs” — fuel shortages lasting between 6 to 8 hours — which have led to chaos at pumps, long queues, and frustrated consumers. “This situation has become unmanageable for dealers and extremely inconvenient for consumers, including public transport drivers, private vehicle owners, and emergency services,” Ruparel said.
The association, which represents over 900 petroleum dealers across the Pune region, has accused Torrent Gas of ignoring repeated complaints and failing to ensure a consistent supply of CNG at these outlets. “Despite several follow-ups, there has been no resolution, and this has started to seriously affect daily mobility and livelihoods,” he added.
Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Ruparel said the suspension was not a strike or protest, but a last resort taken in the larger public interest. “We are left with no option. This is not just about dealers—it’s about commuters, essential services, and public confidence in the fuel distribution system,” he explained.
The PDA has also appealed to the District Collector and other concerned authorities for urgent intervention to restore and stabilize the CNG supply in the region.
