COVID: Delta Plus Variant Cases Increasing In Maharashtra – Health Department

Mumbai, 8th August 2021: Maharashtra state health department today informed that the number of Delta plus variant cases of Coronavirus disease (COVID19) has been increasing in the last few days.

According to the health department, there are 45 cases of Delta plus variant in Maharashtra. Out of 45 new cases reported in the state 27 are male and 18 are female including six adults below the age of 18 years. About 80% of the samples sent for Genome Sequencing in the state in recent times are found with Delta plus variant.

The districts reporting most cases of Delta plus variant include Jalgaon with 13 cases followed by Ratnagiri with 11 cases. Mumbai has reported six cases and Thane district has reported five cases of this variant followed by Pune district with three cases. Palghar, Sindhudurg, Sangli, Nandurbar, Aurangabad, Kolhapur and Beed have reported one case each.
